This week sees the opening of the 27th edition of the London Art Fair at the Business Design Centre, Islington.

Find us on Stand 45, on the mezzanine level, where we will be launching new artworks including two energetic and vibrant silkscreen prints by David Spiller; Only You (Tom) and I'll Walk With You (Jerry). Tom and Jerry are the latest in a series of works combining nostalgic cartoon characters with song lyrics and artist doodles in bold and beautiful limited edition prints.

Tobias Till's latest work is an incredibly detailed view of London which condenses an abundance of fascinating imagery and history about the city into an image based around the classic nursery rhyme 'Oranges and Lemons.' Within the print figures and buildings from different historical periods have been illustrated side by side, creating multiple narratives and capturing the incredible character and diversity of London's history.

This project has taken 18 months to realise. In this time the artist has undertaken a vast amount of research and preparatory drawings, finally hand printing the image in 7 colours, using 5 separate colour blocks.

Justine Smith has become renowned for the unique artworks she creates using the medium of banknotes. In her hands currency is transformed into colourful and provocative images that question our relationship with money, and explore the power and ideas it can represent. 

Her latest work, Money Map of the World 2013, is the most recent in a series of Money Maps that began nine years ago, with Money Map of the World 2004/5.

This limited edition print was developed from a collage which took the artist 10 months to complete. It was constructed using the current issue bank notes for every official currency in the world, right down to the smallest island state.

Justine has described how using banknotes in her artistic practice feels like ‘working with an elemental force.’ In Money Map of the World 2013 this force has been captured to create a politically charged, and yet strikingly beautiful image of the world we live in today.

David Spiller and the London Art Fair

We will be exhibiting three new limited editions by David Spiller at the London Art Fair, which opens this week at the Business Design Centre, Islington.

'Love is the Light' (featuring Goofy), 'If Not For You' (Pinocchio) and 'Let It Be' are the latest in a series of works that bring together cartoon characters and favourite song lyrics, in compositions characterised by their exuberant use of bright colours and expressive lines.

150 Years of London Underground

Today is the 150th anniversary of the London Underground! To celebrate, we will be exhibiting Simon Patterson's 'Saptarishi' at the London Art Fair next week.

Commissioned by the London Transport Museum last year, the print is a contemporary update of 'The Great Bear,' his iconic tube map from 1992. The artist has substituted the standard station names with his own, to create new lines of association: the Bakerloo Line is filled with spies; the Victoria Line with Victorians; and the Hammersmith and City Line is devoted entirely to the Murdochs in a nod to his 'Journalists' line from his earlier piece.

Also on display will be Susan Stockwell's 'Underground Map' - a hand-embroidered, limited edition handkerchief depicting the London tube lines. All have been coloured red, drawing a parallel between the city's transport system and an arterial network.

New Artist from New York

Last year, Diana left London for New York City, and we're thrilled to say that we'll be promoting TAG across America in 2011, exhibiting at new US fairs and expanding on our stable of artists.

We're delighted to be working with American artist Paula Scher, whose limited edition screenprinted maps picture the world in dense, colourful detail. Scher is best known for her prizewinning work as a graphic designer, but these beautiful editions showcase a different side to her creative talents. Her work was recently acquired by the V&A and we'll be showing it at the London Art Fair this month.
