Adam Dant | The Government Stable | Official Artwork of the Election | Exclusive Print Available

Adam Dant | The Government Stable | 2015 | Available to view at Open House Portcullis House | Saturday 19 September
Adam Dant’s The Government Stable, the official artwork of the 2015 election, is this evening unveiled in the State Rooms of Speaker’s House. The Government Stable is a unique interpretation of the 2015 General Election and takes the form of a single monumental sepia ink drawing. Created by official artist of the general election Adam Dant, this record of the national historical event is based on his experiences on the 2015 general election campaign trail.
The artwork takes the form of a fictitious space, the ‘General Election Campaign Archive’ in which architectural locations from the campaign trail are depicted filled with icons and artefacts of electioneering. Whilst looking at the artwork the stories which took place throughout the course of the election campaign unfold before the viewer's eyes.
We are delighted to be publishing an exclusive limited edition print of The Government Stable, in collaboration with Adam Dant and The House of Commons, which can be pre-ordered now from our website.

The exhibition presents a journey through the Western interpretation of the world, through 150 unique world maps, globes and objects. Stephen is one of only three contemporary artists exhibited, and his work adds his own distinctive reflections to this fascinating history.

Susan Stockwell | Sea Markings | Exhibition at Royal Shakespeare Company | Stratford Upon Avon

PACCAR Room and Foyers | Royal Shakespeare Theatre | Until 6 September

Susan Stockwell's exhibition 'Sea-Markings', now open at the RSC, was inspired by the company's summer season productions of Othello and The Merchant of Venice, and draws on the play's themes of trade, identity and diversity.

Comprising of a stunning suspended sail installation, which takes over the public spaces of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and a selection of new artworks combining currency, drawing and maps, the exhibition brings together work created during Susan's time as Artist in Residence at the company. Susan says of the experience:

"Working as Artist in Residence at the RSC is insightful, inspiration and enjoyable. Witnessing the inside workings of the organisation is revealing a very collaborative process, different to the visual artists' practice which tends to be more solitary...It is a great opportunity to push my work further and explore Shakespeare's poetry to make new art which I hope will surprise and wonder theatre visitors"

Congratulations to the Fantastic Adam Dant & Ryan Callanan!

This weekend saw the announcement that Adam Dant has been appointed as the House of Commons' official artist of the 2015 General Election.

Renowned for his playful, Hogarthian illustrations of contemporary society, Adam will be travelling across Britain over the coming weeks, visiting marginal seats and depicting the behaviour of ordinary voters, as well as electioneering politicians, in the run up to the election.

A selection of the artist's initial sketches will go up on parliamentray social media channels, including a blog, during the election period, and the completed work will join the parliamentary art collection.

We are also thrilled by the exciting news that Ryan Callanan has been selected as the recipient of BritWeek's inaugural 'Visual Artist of the Year' award. Held annually in California, BritWeek highlights and celebrates the creative relationship between the UK and US, and the award will provide a platform for Ryan to showcase his work stateside.

Adam Dant | The Budge Row Bibliotheque

Bloomberg SPACE | 50 Finsbury Square | London | EC2A 1HD

Entering its final week at Bloomberg SPACE, Adam Dant's specially commissioned solo exhibition 'The Budge Row Bibliotheque' encapsulates two millenia of the everyday life and times of Budge Row, the lost street of the City of London.

Responding to the unique position Bloomberg holds within its surroundings, the exhibition features a series of densely wrought drawings depicting interconnected historical anecdotes, inscriptions, cartographies, views and vistas, each telling a fascinating story of London life.

At the centre of the space sits a scale model of a green cabman's shelter, within which you can hear the artist recite archaeologist's dreams of London's lost streets and hidden past. This adds another, slightly uncanny, dimension to the cartographic romp through time that the rest of the exhibition presents.

Ends Sat 14 March | Open Mon - Sat, 11 am - 6pm

Stylist Fashion Issue | Anya Hindmarch | Stephen Walter

Pick up your free copy of  Stylist Magazine's Fashion Issue today to see Stephen Walter's Hub 2007-2010 behind the desk of the wonderful designer Anya Hindmarch.

In the article Anya says of the work: "I have an enormous picture of London with every single house drawn on by this crazy artist and he's marked every area and labelled it by its type. It's quite funny because London is very much rooted to what I do..."

Stephen's sold out limited edition print is an incredible snapshot of the capital and its art world between 2007-10. We love seeing the collections our artist's work are exhibited in, and it's particularly exciting to see Stephen's work in one of London's best and most prestituous design studios.
